Dawei is a beautiful green city hidden beneath the coconut palms of Southern Myanmar . It is a trading hub and quickly progressing town, the true size of the city is hidden beneath the coconut and betel nut palms which give the city a tropical jungle feel. The people are delightfully friendly and is a good place to base yourself as you explore the surrounding beaches. Attractions include Paya Ge Art works, historical colonial architecture, early morning fish market and a delightful array of cottage industries.

The Dawei peninsula is a 60 km long stretch of untouched beaches the most famous of these in Maungmagan, although the yellow sands of Nabule Beach are fast attracting their own following. Myeik and Dawei were two of the first cities settled by the English after the first of the three Anglo-Burmese wars. As a result these two cities have many beautiful colonial buildings and Dawei has more understated wooden houses.
