Inle Lake Highlight

Inle Lake is the second largest natural lake in Myanmar and it is a beautiful highland lake. It is situated in the heart of the Shan plateau and the place is Nyaungshwe Valley, nestled between two mountain ranges that extend north to south and it is 35 kilometres away from the nearest airport ‘Heho’.

The shore and islands of Inle Lake accommodate 17 villages, all of which are on stilts. On the Shan Plateau, the Intha people have developed an amazing culture as their farming and fishing skills attest.

Their additional talents as metal workers, carpenters and weavers have helped to make them one of the wealthiest tribes in Myanmar.

They are the lake dwellers who are unique with their leg rowing. And then, Leg rowed traditional boats are the main ceremonial attractions of the Inle Lake.

Landmarks of Inle lake are Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda (famous principal shrines) in Myanmar, Floating Market which held once every five days (the locals selling a wide range of daily commodities), and the floating islands.
